“Having taught the Holocaust over many years,
and with my own relatives coming from the
Polish-Ukrainian border, many of the incidents
recounted in your play resonate deeply.
I've always admired those who take the time to listen
to the testimonials and memories of others, because
although the big picture doesn't change, the
individual stories do and keep history alive.
Your weaving of stories from different generations
into a single strong narrative was remarkable, and it
took a remarkable actor to pull it off.
Perhaps some day you might consider coming
to Crawford Bay School to talk to our students
about the whole process of research, gathering
first hand accounts, and collaborative writing.”

Based on the true stories from actor
Bessie Wapp’s family, hello I must be
going explores women’s resistance to,
and survival of war.

Hello I Must Be Going was created by Judy
Wapp, Bessie Wapp and Nicola Harwood,

“I was left speechless at the end of the performance because I was so profoundly
touched. You must continue to present this
play to wider audiences.”

“We would like to thank you for the art and passion and clear voice that you collectively brought to last night’s affecting performance. We talked late into the evening, finally deciding that if there is hope, it’s in the love you spoke of, and in the voices such as your own, reflecting
ourselves back to us – asking the questions,
pointing out contradictions, expressing the
great human loss, and all for what? – and of
course the many, many individuals around the
world who, like you, are working to find new
possibilities.”
